Kingston

Easter came and Easter went. Easter Sunday night I spent the evening pondering real estate online and watching a really stupid movie.

Then I went for a "drive" on Google maps. Does anyone else do that, I wonder? Scroll along up the road to get a feel for the neighbourhood and the surroundings. I thought I'd have a look at Kingston, as it's always had an inexplicable appeal ever since I was a child. It's just a country town that's seen better days since the gold rush, and I don't even think it has any shops anymore (just a pub).

Anyway, some then and now pics~

General store then, circa 1963.

General store now:

Former Creswick Shire Hall (circa 1911)

Old council building now:

Just nostalgia I guess. Or a yearning for peace and space.

Paul and Joe

Since I first saw the Kitten Collection, I've been a bit nuts for Paul and Joe cosmetics...they're hard to find over here, so thank God for the internet! This post shares the whole collection and I had to borrow a few photos because they're such eye candy.

The other thing I really like about the cosmetics line is that the packaging is so retro and 50s. Sweet!

Shoe love and Miss Fisher

Just ordered myself a pair of Miz Mooz shoes from here.
I wanted a pair of these too (photo above) but need more dosh before I can buy them.

Also about to watch Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries on the ABC. Loving the costumes and style.

However, am the only one who find Miss Fisher's air of smug self-satification so annoying that I want to smack her? Probably. Perhaps I need the books. But anyway, the ABC show is all about the costumes and sets. For me, anyway.

Nanna house

As I'm still yearning for a house in the country, I like to peruse the real estate sites. Every so often you come across a house that's still as Nanna left it. I couldn't buy this one, but saved some of the images for posterity:

I can't even remember where it was now...

Hello 60s lounge suite!

Hello deco-ish bits and bobs.

Ah! The lino!

Ah! The kitchen cupboard!

Serenity now!!

Seat for me to sit and watch the world go by.

Pincurls

Pincurls on the brain.

This is not a picture of me, by the way.

I bought these pins from ebay the other week, I think more so because I like the packaging...they're a bit flimsy compared to my other pin curl clips.

Today

Thinking about a change. I realised I achieved nothing on my resolution list from last year.
So a few things I have to do:
-get new job
-move house
-join a bowling league
-take up yoga
-join a roller derby league

I've decided I've got between now and December to do the job thing, but I'm gonna start applying for ones now. Interstate. We need to pick an area and work towards getting there, I can't afford life in this city for a while, so I think I'll try something new. This won't affect TS adversely, he's used to moving and I think he'll be happier.

As for me, I don't know. I can't think of that many people that will have a hole in their life if I go. Besides the family and AM. And the TPs. I feel rather periphal to all the rest of my friends.

Oh my golly galoshes

I love the Feeling Stitchy blog, but haven't been up to date with reading it really. So I just came across two pieces of embroidery that I LOVE, from their competition here.
